Vacation

My sister in law has been after us to visit her in Portland, Oregon. So we are finally going. I have done 2 weeks of schoolwork in 3 days and will be leaving the house at 3AM to catch a plane.

I am hopeful that I'll be able to relax a bit because work has been nutz. It always gets that way before a planned vacation. Murphy's Law I guess. I have my Ipod updated, magazines...and schoolwork. I have a major test, a quiz, a lab, and a new class starting...all online.

The kids are excited and the cat knew of the impending doom of going to the kennel. He cried the whole way.

Many Things

I got behind on my schoolwork. Now I am paying for it. My neck is killing me from being hunched over a computer for hours and I have 26 powerpoint slides to read about igneous rocks. I am going to die.

Had a fab weekend doing quilt appraisals at Lancaster Heritage Center. We looked at 79 quilts. Just a wonderful time, looking at terrific quilts and meeting very nice people!

In addition to doing school stuff this week, I am preparing for my son's Eagle Scout project this weekend. He is building a fence line at the county Easter Seals camp. I'm really proud of him as he was able to get all of the supplies donated, got a crew together and is ready to go at 8:30 AM on Saturday morning. My job is to create lunch for 20 people. As an overachiever, this is no easy task. I have to keep an appropriate perspective as this is not the "Ladies Club", this is a group of boy scouts and dads. So I believe I have an appropriate menu, but of course all of it has to be done on Friday afternoon/evening.

In addition, we are gearing up to take a trip to Portland, Oregon the end of June. My husband's sister has been after us to visit and we finally are going. I was in San Francisco once, but that's the only place "out west" I've been. She lives near Mt. St. Helens, so I can't wait to see that.

That's it for now. Back to the rocks....

What's New

It seems like when the first big heatwave hits, our A/C breaks down. Go figure. It froze up solid. So now I am on a waiting list of many other souls in similar predicaments. The problem is that we live in the woods, and the humidity gets unbearable. However, it does give me an excuse not to cook anything indoors.

Me: Hi, you service our air conditioner, and , uh, it's frozen up solid.
A/C place: Have you cleaned the filter?
Me: Well, like, uh, not this month, but I took it out
and it wasn't that dirty (lie)
A/C place: Have you had any other problems? When was it serviced last?
Me: No other problems and it was serviced..... 2 years ago.
A/C place: (silence)
Me: I know, I should have had it done last year,
but, but, everything was working fine, and, uh,
please put us on your list to come out....please.

So here I am sweating and a piss-poor excuse for a homeowner.

I've been hugely busy with school (taking 3 classes this summer), helping kids study for final exams, and readying to teach tomorrow. I'll be teaching a 3 hour class on machine quilting and hope everyone enjoys the method as much as I enjoy sharing.

I have so many ideas for quilts right now, but not much time to execute anything. Just drawing a few rough sketches in my book and that's about it. That stinks.
